Aesthetics or Esthetics: Which is correct?
The majority of the searches on the internet turn out to be for esthetics or esthetician. However, the correct spelling is aesthetics or aesthetician. For the purposes of making it easier for people to find out more about aesthetics or aesthetics school we use both terms in the text. This is done so the search engines will have an easier and more reliable time finding esthetics, esthetician or esthetician school when people type it into the search.
Either way it is is wonderful work to receive and to perform. The breakthroughs in the holistic esthetician field is towards making the skin healthier rather than just to make it look healthier. The new focus in holistic esthetician school is to use products and procedures that nurture the skin and build health. Since skin is the largest single organ of the body, it is vitally important that esthetics schools address the health of the skin. Healthy skin eliminates toxins as well as assists in the generation of vitamins and a healthier immune system.
The esthetician school is modeled on some of the same principles as the massage and polarity schools to make sure that the practitioner not only has a good command of the esthetics products and procedures but also understands the power of touch. By combining these qualities our graduates bring an incredible difference to their work that people love. The power of intention is palpable and people leave the clinic feeling great. It takes esthetics to a whole new level.
Quality. The therapeutic deep tissue sports massage, holistic massage therapy, polarity therapy career program, esthetician career programs prepare you for success. There are lots of mediocre massage, polarity and esthetics career programs. If you study at a massage school, polarity school or aesthetics school that has an inferior program, your work will be inferior and you will never be successful. Massage therapy, polarity therapy and esthetics are typically businesses that build by word of mouth. If you do not have great skills, people will not be interested in experiencing your work. That is all there is to it. You need to be great to be successful.
Currently only about one in ten massage therapy, polarity therapy or Aesthetics programs are high quality. Some of the mediocre programs are cheap and some are expensive. The great programs are more expensive because it costs more to get good teachers. It also costs more to provide top level training. Education is labor intensive. That is why the top massage, polarity or esthetics schools are expensive. However, there are a lot of career technical schools that will tell you they have the best teachers but in fact if you look at their credentials you will find they are relatively new to the field and are probably graduates of a one of the good schools in the area. We have seen this first hand where some of the technical career schools have hired graduates from our programs and make them program directors or teachers before they ever have a successful practice or the experience to be able to pass on valuable information to their students. The school markets them as highly trained teachers when in fact they are taking some of what they learned at a good program and trying to duplicate it. What they don't understand is that it takes years to create a good program that gets excellent results. It takes years to learn to be a great teacher. And it takes years of being a successful practitioner or having your own business to actually learn what it takes to be successful.
So ask to see the credentials of the teachers who are running and teaching your course. Ask to see their actual diploma and transcript to find out when they attended. If something does not look right, contact the school they attended to find out if their certificate is legitimate. Find out if they are nationally certified, state licensed and their professional affiliations. If you find the person has very little experience and the school is advertising that they have great teachers, you know you have found a low quality school. Run as fast as you can.
Another great way to find out if a school is reputable and has high quality is to ask professionals in the industry. Salons, clinics, spas and day spas are all great places to check for referrals. Ask them which schools do the best job of preparing graduates. Ask them where they prefer to hire new massage therapy, polarity therapy and aestheticians from. This is your best indicator of the schools that have the top quality.
Spa Tech Institute is very proud of their quality programs and look forward to working with the top students that apply to the school and meet the criteria for success. We take massage, polarity and esthetics training very seriously and our priority is your success.
